“Create a Flash UGC Website in 30 minutes”
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008Was our presentation topic for Adobe’s Online Creative Festival, a world-first for them in delivering a LIVE online conference using Adobe Acrobat Connect.
For those unfamiliar with the term, UGC stands for User Generated Content and is functionality generally incorporated in social media and networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Blogs, etc.
Ricky and I had the opportunity to present the public beta of GLU, will start to be released shortly, and some of it’s more powerful features such as decreased development time and real-time media conversion.
Many thanks to everyone who logged into the event, Adobe and the staff on the day that made everything happen and special thanks to Clare Gillespie, Events Marketing Manager at Adobe, a stressful day I’m sure…
Some Adobe Acrobat Connect software familiarisation and audio issues at the beginning, not to mention Ricky’s computer crashing, but overall we were really happy with the presentation and also the mobile video conversion working!
Acrobat Connect Pro is great tool and with no previous experience we didn’t do too poor a job… Definitely could improve upon though! Adobe recorded all the presentations on the day and will be making links available shortly. We might look at recording an abbreviated version, will wait and see.
Check out the mobile video in the links below taken at Adobe offices, submitted, then automatically converted and published into the Flash UGC Website which was being put together on the fly!
GLU is a Rich Media Community, Management System and Development Framework which we’ve had the opportunity to develop over the last 18 months at various levels on commercial projects.
The public beta release we’re making available free to use, and plan to spend an increasing amount of time developing the management system and development framework.
