CASE STUDY: Toyota Tarago
Flash Microsite


Toyota Tarago Flash Microsite for News Digital Media is the first commercial project integrated with GLU v2.1, and an excellent example of standard
GLU functionality.


PROJECT OVERVIEW

DDX had the opportunity to assist News Digital Media with the production and integration of GLU for a Toyota Tarago campaign managed by and deployed on News Digital Media's online properties.

Production included taking News Digital Media's creative, building the Flash Microsite, and integrating with GLU for data collection, moderation and content management requirements.

Integrating with GLU assisted DDX reduce the overall production time and meet an otherwise impossible deadline by leveraging GLU's pre-built Rich Media Management System ("RMMS") and backend functionality.



PRODUCTION BREAKDOWN

In addition to standard production items such as graphic preparation, testing and client review, and deployment, a high-level production breakdown overview of functionality at a screen level included:


Homepage

The Flash Microsite was to sit as a header at the top of a single HTML page and include three (3) sections in addition to the Homepage, (i) Competition, (ii) Toyota Tarago Features, and (iii) Canteen (submit a note).


Section 1: Competition

The Competition Section was required to collect entries. Visitors would first select their desired prize, then enter their details to go into a draw to win this prize. Data collection and management was required.


Section 2: Features

The Features section was required to display a 360 degree interactive of the vehicle with hotspots that took the visitor to a Gallery section. Gallery vehicle shots and text were to be content managed.


Section 3: Canteen

The Canteen section was required to enable visitors the ability to interact with the brand and leave messages on the website (which were required to be moderated) and which they could send to their friends.



PRODUCTION RESOURCES

For this project GLU's RMMS and backend functionality enabled this project to be completed with fewer production resources.

GLU INTEGRATION

GLU integration required leveraging key GLU AS 3.0 Connectors to integrate with the RMMS and provide ready-to-go backend functionality that would otherwise have had to be built. Key backend functionality for each section:


Section 1: Competition

The Competition section of the Flash Microsite was integrated with GLU using GLU's AS 3.0 RegistrationConnector, enabling quicker front-end development with backend functionality and management ready to go.


Section 2: Features

The Features section utilised GLU's AS 3.0 GalleryConnector, enabling groupings of text and images, in this case the Toyota Tarago Features galleries, to be quickly integrated and content manageable through GLU's RMMS.


Section 3: Canteen

The Canteen section utilised a combination of GLU's AS 3.0 BlogConnector and FormConnector for message moderation and send-to-friend functionality required for this section.



GLU BENEFITS

The Toyota Tarago Campaign benefited from GLU's following features:

- Pre-built web-based management system,
- GLU AS 3.0 Connectors,
- Registration and data collection,
- Content management of text and images,
- Moderation of messages, and
- Global cloud storage delivery network.


From a business perspective this translated into:

- Reduced production resources,
- Confidence in deliverable in utilising a proven platform, and
- Ability to meet a tight, and hard deadline.
